Your new hair deserves the same level of care after your appointment as it received in the chair. Following the correct aftercare routine will help maintain longevity, appearance, colour, texture and overall performance of your hair solution.

Remember, we cannot provide any exchanges, refunds or returns if proper aftercare is not followed. 

Mesh Closures & Hair Extensions Aftercare

Washing & Conditioning

• Wash your extensions using cool to medium temperature water only.
• Use smooth, downward motions when washing and rinse thoroughly.
• Keep conditioner and hair masks away from the root area and mesh.
• Remember: Oily mesh = slippery mesh.

For best results:

• Use salon-approved, sulphate-free products only
• Shampoo twice
• Condition the ends only
• Finish with heat defence and a lightweight hair oil

 

Styling & Heat Care

• Use a salon-quality blow-dry brush for wet styling and a soft detangler brush for everyday use.
• Keep heated tools below 180°C.
• Always apply heat protection before styling.
• When styling, ensure your mesh or closure stays flat.

Pro Tip:
A light water spritz followed by a cool blast from your hairdryer works wonders for refreshing your hair in the morning.

 

Sleeping Routine

Protect your hair overnight by:

• Keeping hair in a loose plait or low ponytail
• Using a silk scrunchie
• Avoiding tight hairstyles while sleeping
• Sleeping on a silk pillowcase or wearing a silk bonnet for ultimate protection

 

Hairline Protection

Keep the following products away from your hairline and closure area:

• Fake tan
• Makeup
• Skincare products

These products can transfer onto the mesh and may lead to bald patches or damage to the closure area.

 

Holidays & Sun Care

Make sure your new hair looks incredible before, during and after your holiday:

• Keep hair off your shoulders when wearing SPF
• Wrap or protect hair if using sun beds
• Sun exposure, heat and products can affect extension colour over time

 

Swimming Guidelines

Strictly avoid underwater swimming with extensions or mesh solutions.

• Chlorine can damage both the texture and colour
• Avoid seawater and salt exposure to prevent dryness and damage

 

Colour Maintenance

Step away from the purple shampoo.

Purple shampoo can dry out your closure and affect overall hair quality.

Please note that extension hair may naturally experience colour changes due to:

• Sun exposure
• Heat styling
• Washing
• Everyday wear

This is completely normal.

 

Iconic Skinn Hair Replacement System Aftercare

First 48 Hours

Do not wash the hair or system within the first 48 hours after installation.

This allows the system to settle and bond correctly.

 

Washing Routine

Wash your Iconic Skinn system 1–3 times per week.

When washing:

• Use smooth, downward motions only
• Gently pat shampoo into the hair — no scratching
• Rinse thoroughly and repeat with a second shampoo

Pro Tip:
Rinse for at least 5 minutes to ensure your Skinn system remains completely free of shampoo residue.

 

Conditioning

• Apply conditioner from mid-lengths to ends only
• Avoid applying conditioner directly onto the scalp or base
• Rinse thoroughly to ensure no product remains

For added softness:

• Use a leave-in conditioner on mid-lengths and ends only
• Avoid applying leave-in products near the base of the system

 

Styling & Heat Care

• Always blow dry hair until it is at least 80% dry before styling
• Use medium heat only
• Apply heat protection spray before using heated tools
• Keep styling tools at a maximum temperature of 180°C

 

General Care Tips

• Use salon-quality, sulphate-free products
• Avoid excessive heat exposure
• Brush gently and regularly to prevent tangling
• Follow your maintenance schedule and appointments for best long-term results
